In Bakkelandet near Horsens and Bræstrup you will find this hidden treasure, also known as Den Ukendte Bro or Den Glemte Bro. Rebuilt in 2014 after being covered by a dam for 85 years, the bridge from 1899 stands as the Nordic region's highest steel lattice bridge. It offers a fascinating history and a beautiful view of the Gudenåen. Easily accessible from Vestbirkvej 2A, Brædstrup. As the name suggests, Den Genfundne Bro was rediscovered in 2014 after 85 years of confinement in gravel and sand. Since the construction was made for a 1 meter gauge, it was too extensive to change the entire structure of the bridge. Instead, they covered the whole thing with sand and made two pipes so that the Gudenåen could run through. Instead of a bridge, there was now a dam with a bridge hidden inside. The sand has preserved the bridge almost without damage and rust. Built in 1899, it was the Nordic region's highest steel lattice bridge at the time. Today it stands as a symbol of impressive industrial engineering. Visitors can now walk along the bridge and enjoy the view of Gudenåen, Denmark's only river. The bridge is 13.4 meters high and stretches 50 meters. It is easy to reach from the car park at Vestbirkvej 2A, Brædstrup, which is approx. 300 meters away. Guests in canoes on the Gudenå can also conveniently stop at the bridge, and there is even a ford for riders east of the bridge. Den Genfundne Bro is also part of the Horsens-Silkeborg Nature Trail, a 61 km long cycle and walking route, perfect for day trips and full of natural beauty.
