Helenes Hus in Herning is the last preserved poorhouse from “Sammel-sted by” and provides an insight into the 19th century poor colonies and the cultivation of the heath. The museum contains an exhibition about the history of the poor colony and is located in scenic surroundings with a stable, cabbage garden and tables/benches. At the house you can also follow the walking and cycling route “Brydningstiden”, which connects the area’s cultural and historical sites. Opening hours are from 1 April to 31 October, where you can experience this unique part of Danish history.
