Jættestue ved Sulkendrup Mølle | Gravhøj & Fortidsminder, Nyborg
Description:
The Jættestuen at Sulkendrup Mølle is an impressive burial mound from the Neolithic Age, located in a beautiful forest by the Ørbæk Å near Nyborg. This 5,200-year-old jættestuen is shaped like a symbolic stone axe with a passage facing the rising and setting of the sun and moon, suggesting a deep cosmological significance. The site was first excavated in 1919 and has since undergone extensive restoration, completed in 2014, with support from the A.P. Møller Foundation and the Museum of Southeastern Denmark. Today, the jættestuen is open to the public and offers a unique opportunity to experience Denmark's ancient history in scenic surroundings. The area around the jættestuen also contains several other burial mounds and is ideal for hiking, where you can enjoy both culture and nature.
