Omø Ørespidsen | Fugleliv - Rangeret Top 10 Fugletrækssted i Danmark
Description:
On Omø's southern tip, also known as Ørespidsen or Øret, you will find the island's largest concentration of holiday homes. In the 1970s, 133 plots were laid out by enterprising islanders with original plans for cluster houses, but this was quickly changed to summer houses. Today, approx. 120 built-up plots. At the car park is the Omø Rensningsanlæg, a large mechanical and biological treatment plant owned by SK Forsyning, built in 1975 for original plans for 1,500 summer houses. The beach's pebbles, a popular building material, were once exported to the Kiel Canal in Germany. Ørespidsen is also an excellent place to observe bird migration and in 2014 was ranked among the 10 best places in Denmark for this purpose.
