Discover the history of Silkeborg Church, which began in a settler town with only 30 inhabitants before 1845. When the paper mill opened in 1844 and transport conditions improved, the town grew rapidly. With a living room as a temporary church and the poet priest J. C. Hostrup as one of the first priests, Silkeborg Church was finally completed in November 1877 after 20 years of effort. Designed by architect Sibbern, the church is a Romanesque cruciform church with a characteristic "open roof truss. The church is open every day from 08:00 - to 18:00. The Tollundmanden can be found at the Silkeborg Museum only 300 meters from the Church.
