Talende Sten | Bøndernes Vejpligt langs Hærvejen fra omkring 1770
Description:
In a bygone era, farmers along Hærvejen bore the burden of war and maintenance. Farms plundered, the road required repair. Stones along the way indicated their duties. In 1784, angry peasants exacted a toll from travellers. But the road lost importance in the 19th century, freeing farmers from their burden. History lives on in stones along the road, a reminder of the community's responsibility. Unfortunately, Radius25 forgot to pinpoint the location of this particular collection of talking stones, but they are found in several places on Hærvejen. Give us a tip if we haven't hit the spot.
