Introduction: Ulkerup has a deep history characterized by rinderpest, poverty and a controversial forced relocation. For centuries, Ulkerup was a remote forest village, where life primarily revolved around cattle farming with free-ranging animals in the forest. But between 1735-1749 rinderpest cast its shadow over the village, leading to economic ruin and poverty among the peasants. In 1782, Christian the 7th took a drastic decision to forcibly evacuate the entire village as part of a larger plan to restore the Danish forests. Ulkerup stands today as a symbolic testimony to the change of time and the harsh conditions that its residents had to face. The figures are a realization of visual artist Per Pandrup and ceramic designer Martin Nybo Jensen's dream of bringing the Ulkerup people back to the village from which they were driven in the 18th century.
Geopark Odsherred: Geopark Odsherred has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List due to its unique geological and cultural historical significance. The area represents an example of Ice Age landscapes and includes the dammed Lammefjord, which has been crucial for human settlement and activity over the centuries. Odsherred's geological formations and landscapes provide a deep insight into the history of the Earth and its influence on life in the region. The placement on the UNESCO World Heritage List recognizes Geopark Odsherred's unique natural heritage and its importance as a cultural and scientific treasure trove.
