Endelave is a scenic island in Kattegat, known as the island of rabbits, where wild rabbits live freely in the landscape. The Endelave ferry, which is based on the island, sails daily between Endelave and Snaptun ferry port. The trip takes approx. 60 minutes and offers a beautiful view of Møllegrunden, where you can spot the many seals, porpoises and a multitude of birds along the way. How many people live permanently at Endelave? There are currently 156 permanent residents. In addition, there are approx. 100 owners of summer houses and holiday homes on the island. Can you live at Endelave? Yes, it is absolutely possible to live at Endelave. Currently there are around 150-160 permanent residents on the island. Endelave has both year-round houses and private rental apartments that offer more permanent housing solutions. Some of the year-round houses also function as holiday homes, so there is some variation in the form of settlement on the island. Endelave's largest summer house area is found on "Lynger," which is located on the island's southeast side, and it offers vacation rentals to those who want to enjoy the island's natural beauty and tranquility. Why are there so many rabbits at Endelave? This is partly because Endelave and the island of Fanø house some of the densest populations of wild rabbits in Denmark. One of the reasons for this may be the absence of certain natural predators, which are typically found in Jutland and other areas. This creates a more favorable environment for the rabbits and allows them to thrive and reproduce in greater numbers. Why are there so few wild rabbits in Denmark? The number of wild rabbits in Denmark is relatively low, especially compared to some other regions. This is due to various factors. In some areas, such as in Southern Jutland, increased rabbit populations may be due to migration from Germany, where rabbits were also introduced by humans. What should we see at Endelave?
